The Alvia Hotel and the
National Accessibility Scheme
Access Statement For The Alvia Hotel
Introduction
The Alvia Hotel provides guest accommodation and services for visitors to Brighton, for both leisure and business. Our aim is to provide a range of accessibility features within the hotel so we can therefore adhere to the NAS guidelines and provide the best level of service for our range of guests with differing needs.
Pre-Arrival
• Pre arrival the Alvia team would be able to provide email communication for the hard of hearing. We would also be able to liaise with guests with written material which is of an increased font size. We will consider means of using our web site facility (which we can alter in house) to provide formats for the visually challenged. This we will look into with colours and fonts. As it stands our web site is very informative regarding local services, concierge and local attractions. We will aim to provide further information (for mobility impairment / visual / hearing impairment) geared towards providing information on accessibility for services and attractions within Brighton
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• We have private car parking on our doorstep, which provides enough space for three cars. These are available on a pre booking arrangment only. If no parking is available here we would be able to arrange for a taxi to meet you at a designated public parking space and bring you back to the hotel. There are no designated parking spaces for disabled guests. Our contact number is displayed outside the hotel so guests can contact us on arrival. We would consider offering a facility for GUIDE dogs. Porterage assistance can be offered to our guests. No ramps are provided at the moment though we could consider installing them temporarily. . this we will have to have a look into.
Main Entrance & Reception
• WE can offer accessibility to the rear of our property which is adjacent to our parking. Both entrances are of equal width, both situated at the top of stairs (the standard width of a door). Assistance from the Alvia team with porterage and guidance can be offered. We need to look into LOOP systems. A pad and pen are available on arrival. Lighting is prominent and is dimmable throughout the public areas. Plenty of comfortable seating is available in reception. Reception is manned semi permanently usually. We will provide additional service to meet the NAS standards where apt and cater for our guests. Our floor is level throughout the reception area. A walking facility and dog bowls can be considered. We have no entry level accommodation from the reception/ entry level floor. No ramp / lift is provided to any floor
